Mould Process Guide
Note: If you've experience flood damage that has not yet been cleaned up and dried, time is of the essence. The longer you wait, the more damage is caused. Please contact us immediately for more information. If you have mold damage or mould present, please follow the steps below.
If You're Unsure if There's Mould

If you suspect mould in your home but don’t see any visible signs, there are a few steps you can take before calling us for an inspection. First, pay attention to any musty or unpleasant odors, especially in areas like the attic, basement, or bathrooms, as these can indicate hidden mould. Check for any signs of water damage, such as discoloration on walls or ceilings, peeling paint, or areas that feel damp. It’s also helpful to take note of any health symptoms, like allergies or respiratory issues, that worsen indoors. If you have access, inspect common mould-prone areas like under sinks or around windows for moisture buildup. Gathering this information can help our team better assess your situation and provide a more efficient inspection and remediation plan. If mould sources are not found, we'll complete an inspection, air testing may be required to locate and assess mould issues.
If Mould Growth is Present

Mould damage is caused by mould growth due to sitting water, flooding, humidity, dampness, dark areas. It is most commonly found in bathrooms, window sills, basements and dark damp areas. Mould can cause flu or cold like symptoms or can cause allergie type reactions. Once disturbed mould may become airborne and cause the symptoms to worsen.

Please follow these steps to ensure you take the appropriate action to have your mould issues taken care of:
Step 1: Identify the source causing the mould. If it's water damage, call us immediately to prevent further damage. If it's a humidity or other related issue please move on to step 2. If you can't find the issue, we can help with this step.

Step 2: Smell the air, if it smells musty, the chances are spores are already airborne.

Step 3: Do not try to remove it yourself unless you've been properly trained. Improper treatment can release mould spores into the air causing contamination throughout the house and cause further issues and expense.

Step 4: If the mould has caused serious damage, contact your insurance adjustor to find out if you have insurance coverage for mould damage. Under most circumstances, insurance companies do not cover mould related issues. If the mould damage is minimal, it may be more cost effective to skip any insurance claim.

Step 5: Contact us for a consultation, we'll complete a site visit and provide an accurate quote to complete the remediation.
Step 6: Have us treat, kill and seal the mould. We'll come in and take the appropriate measures to ensure your home is safe for use. We'll also take the necessary steps to ensure we address the cause and ensure it doesn't return while ensuring the mould spores do not contaminate the rest of the building. We use 100% safe, eco-friendly and effective treatments on most light to heavy mould projects unless stronger chemicals are required.

Step 7: Have us complete an air clearance test to ensure there are no further issues, the air is safe and ensure mould levels are normal.

Step 8: A dehumidifier and air purifier may be beneficial. If you don't already have one, we can point you in the right direction.

Step 9: Enjoy your safe air, breathe properly again and rest easy knowing your air is safe.

Asbestos Process Guide
If You're Unsure if Asbestos Is Present

If you’re unsure whether your building contains asbestos, follow these precautions to keep everyone safe:
-
Buildings Built After 1990: Do not contain asbestos and do not require testing.
-
Buildings Built Before 1990: Are at a high risk of containing asbestos containing materials. These materials will need to be tested prior to any renovation, construction or demolition.
-
Avoid Disturbing Suspected Areas: Do not touch or try to remove any material that might contain asbestos, as disturbing it can release hazardous fibers into the air.
-
Identify Potential Problem Areas: Make a note of locations with older materials, such as insulation, ceiling tiles, or floor coverings, especially if your building was constructed before the 1990s.
Before You Call Us
-
Document Your Concerns: Take note of any specific areas of concern and any recent renovations or damage that may have disturbed materials.
-
Check for Past Building Alterations or Renovations: These can give us an insight into the buildings materials and may help us rule out some areas.
-
Leave It to the Professionals: Refrain from attempting any DIY inspections, remediation or testing.
What to Expect During Our Visit
-
Thorough Assessment: Our certified team will inspect the property, identify potential asbestos-containing materials, and carefully collect samples.
-
Safety First: We use strict safety measures to prevent the release of asbestos fibers while performing testing.
What Happens Next
-
Detailed Report: We’ll provide you with a comprehensive analysis of our findings, confirming if asbestos is present and outlining the next steps.
-
Guidance on Remediation: If asbestos is found, we’ll advise you on safe removal or containment options and work with you to create a plan that ensures the safety of your property.
Our goal is to give you peace of mind and a clear path forward to address any asbestos concerns.
Please Note: Asbestos testing requires taking physical samples of each suspect material; in other words, we need to damage the suspect material to obtain a sample and it will require repair unless you plan to demolish or renovate the area.
Steps to Take When You Know Your Area Has Asbestos and You’re Calling Us for Removal
Step 1: Avoid Disturbing the Area
Do not cut, sand, or attempt to remove any asbestos-containing materials yourself. Disturbing these materials can release harmful asbestos fibers into the air, posing serious health risks and contaminating the building causing health risks, further extreme expenses and potential law suits.
Step 2: Seal Off the Area
If possible, close doors and vents to isolate the area and limit the spread of asbestos fibers. Keep children, pets, and anyone else away from the affected space until professional help arrives. If the materials are undisturbed and in good condition, they should not pose any health risks until we arrive.

Step 3: Prepare Information for Your Call
When you contact us, be ready to describe the type of material containing asbestos, the location, and any previous damage or disturbances. This helps us understand the situation and plan the safest removal approach. We will also ask you for a copy of asbestos lab reports, if you cannot provide these reports, we may need to re-test the materials.

Step 4: Let Us Handle the Rest
We'll set up a consultation, following the consultation, we'll provide you with an accurate quote for the remediation. Once we arrive, our certified professionals will manage the entire process, from containment to safe removal, following strict safety protocols to ensure your property is free of asbestos hazards. We provide you with clearance documentation post remediation.
