  • What Is Asbestos?
Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral composed of thin, durable fibers. It was widely used in construction and manufacturing throughout the 20th century because of its resistance to heat, fire, and chemicals, as well as its insulating properties. Commonly found in older buildings, asbestos was used in materials like insulation, ceiling tiles, cement, and floor tiles. However, asbestos fibers can be hazardous if they become airborne and are inhaled, leading to serious health issues, including lung disease, asbestosis, and mesothelioma. Because of these risks, professional handling and removal are necessary when asbestos-containing materials are found. Asbestos was used in more than 3000 building products. It was banned from use after the 1990's. For more information please visit our Asbestos Page
